Website Legal Compliance Legislation
Given the current mood in Congress for more and more regulation, it’s likely that the federal government will soon have increased regulatory authority over the advertising practices of Web business – both in terms of how they target consumers and with the advertising messages themselves.
The U.S. Congress will soon be voting on two separate bills, which if they become law will certainly increase the burden on webmasters for website legal compliance, including new disclosures and website legal forms.
.Consumer Privacy Bill to Target Behavioral Ads
Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Technology and the Internet has been planning to introduce a consumer privacy bill since last year, and he most likely will introduce it in the near future.
Rep. Boucher’s primary target is how advertisers target consumers with behavioral advertising. Web marketers have long sought to use tracking technology to increase the relevance with online ads – the more relevant the ad, the more conversions increase.
Improving Your Sales Conversions
I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” This is especially true when it comes to copywriting techniques. The same timeless copywriting techniques that were so successful fifty years ago are just as effective today. In fact, some of the greatest ads in the history of advertising were written during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
This exciting time period was known as The Golden Age of Advertising.
In that regard, I’ve decided to compile a list of time-tested copywriting techniques to help improve your sales conversions. Please don’t look for anything new here. Like I said earlier, these time-tested techniques are just as effective today as they were fifty years ago.
However, with the advent of the Internet, sometimes we need to be reminded of that fact.
Website Design Tips For A Reader Friendly Site
One of my favorite things I like to do when I’m online is browse the Internet, and check out other marketing websites. I’m an avid reader, so when I come across a well-designed website that appears to have an abundance of quality content, I’ll usually spend a few minutes on the site reading that content. And if the site provides a pleasant reader experience, I’ll bookmark it and visit it again.
However, it takes a very special website to capture my attention. And unfortunately, most sites fall far short of my expectations. As a result, I rarely bookmark websites. No, more often than not, when I visit a website, I click away after just a second or two.
Why? Because in my opinion, many websites just aren’t what I would call reader-friendly. In fact, they’re just the opposite. They provide a lousy reader experience.
Following are five things that ruin my reader experience:
A Good Visitor Experience Is Important
Most small business owners have a website. Many think they need a website just because everyone else has one. Well, that’s not exactly a solid internet marketing strategy. After all, a website that doesn’t generate visitors that result in sales is not doing its job.
The objective of your business website should not only be to drive more traffic to it, but also to enhance each visitor’s experience while they are there. After that, it should also give them enough reason to return again and again.
Using Twitter to Build Traffic

Most people know that Twitter is a great way to keep current on what’s going on in the world these days. Whether the goal is to keep up on the latest specials from your favorite businesses or to simply keep up with your friends’ lives, Twitter is a great tool. Interestingly, most people claim to be annoyed by the term ‘tweet’, yet studies show that the site is still growing in popularity.
Using Twitter is easy, even if you’ve never done it before. After you have created an account, you can add short messages (less than 140 characters) simply by typing them in. These messages, or ‘tweets’, are sent to everyone that has become one of your “followers”. If you find other people or businesses you’d like to keep up on, you can choose to be a ‘follower’ of them, and you’ll be updated whenever they add a new post.
Due to its rising popularity, it’s quickly becoming an effective way to get more visitors to your website. More and more businesses and individuals are using it to increase traffic. If you know how to do it, you can do the same.
There are several reasons why this is becoming more common.
